Meteo analysis for the months of April and September

  • Date added: 22.04.2026

Hello balloon heads. Some of you are asking why the Championships are being held "so late," others are raising the issue of "worse weather in September and lower temperatures." Well, listen up - it doesn't look that bad in our region. We'll tell you more - May and September are very similar in weather statistics. Read our short weather analysis comparing April and September.

September in the Krosno region is a transitional period between summer and autumn, but – as clearly demonstrated by climate data analyzed by meteoblue.com – this boundary has been shifting in recent decades. It is increasingly observed that September retains the characteristics of a summer month, while its course deviates from the classic, cooler pattern of autumn. In the context of 2026, it can therefore be assumed that it will be a relatively warm, moderately dry, and more stable month than its spring counterparts.

Average September temperatures in Krosno typically range from around 14 to 18°C during the day, but the warming trend suggests that these values are increasingly being exceeded. The beginning of the month can resemble the end of August, with temperatures reaching 20–24°C and plenty of sunshine. Only the second half of September brings a gradual cooling, although it is still rarely abrupt. Nights become noticeably cooler, leading to greater diurnal amplitudes, but they still do not reach the levels typical of spring. As a result, September 2026 can be interpreted as a month of "a gentle end to summer" rather than a dynamic transition to autumn.

September is typically more structured in terms of rainfall than the spring months. Instead of frequent, scattered showers, longer periods of stable weather, interrupted by episodes of heavier rainfall, predominate. However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in irregularity – dry periods can be interrupted by short but heavy downpours.

Cloud cover and sunshine in September favor outdoor activities. The days are still relatively long, and the number of sunny hours—though lower than in summer—remains significant. A characteristic phenomenon for this month is the so-called "Indian summer" period, which is characterized by stable, high-pressure weather systems with abundant sunshine, little wind, and pleasant temperatures. Such situations are becoming increasingly frequent with a warming climate, and it can be assumed that they will also play a significant role in September 2026.

To better understand the specifics of September, it's worth comparing it with April, which represents the opposite seasonal pole. April in Krosno is a much more dynamic and unpredictable month. Temperatures are lower – usually between 10 and 15°C during the day – but above all, they are highly variable. Both near-summer episodes and return cold spells, or even frosts, are possible. Unlike September, temperature swings can be more abrupt, and transitions between different weather types occur more quickly.

Differences are also visible in the nature of precipitation. April brings more frequent, though usually short-lived, rains, often of a convective nature. Showers, local thunderstorms, and variable cloud cover occur, which means the weather can change several times in a single day. September, on the other hand, is more orderly in this respect – changes occur less frequently but are more frequent. Instead of numerous small precipitation episodes, there are single, more pronounced periods of rain.

From a climatic perspective, it's particularly interesting that September is warming faster than April. This means that autumn is "extending" towards summer, while spring remains a transitional period with high instability. In practice, this translates into seasonal asymmetry: conditions in September are not a mirror image of those in April. Instead of similarity, we observe a stark contrast – September is becoming increasingly predictable and mild, while April retains its variable, transitional nature.

In summary, September 2026 in Krosno can be described as a relatively warm, moderately dry, and stable month, with a good chance of extended periods of good weather. Compared to April, it boasts significantly less variability and greater order in atmospheric conditions. While April symbolizes the beginning of the season and its uncertainty, September represents its calm, gradual conclusion, which, in today's climate, increasingly resembles an extension of summer.

So, dear friends, we are waiting and keeping our fingers crossed for the weather.
